| Michael, my sister Jennifer and myself, have started a charity fund raising group to honor the generousity of my parents, Jim and Claudine Tanner. Thus, 'The Tanner Family Fund', was created on August 7, 2004, with a benefit concert at the Scream-like-a-girl Record's outdoor performance space. This little garden theater is under 3 canopy tops and seats about 50 people. It's 'way' cool and Chris VonTanner (me) did his first (in many years) solo concert called, 'Chris VonTanner sings 'The Oldies for The Oldies'. Michael VonTanner operated the sound and lights and after a few cliches (with a new sound system, not Michael), everything ran smooth and we were able to raise almost $650.00. This will get the foundation's legal work, web site and bureaucratic paper/legal stuff paid for and still leave several hundred to give out our first donations. Our intention is to give $100.00 gifts to those in our gay community who are living with AIDS. Decisions will be made on need, first come first serve and availability of funds at time of request. We don't intend to solve any great problems with this foundation, yet a $100.00 can pay a light bill, buy a bus pass, a pair of shoes, many different things to help make life a little easier, at least for a moment in time. To all of you who donated your money, time, cleaning services, advertising, ticket sales, set-up, my hair and makeup (ha-ha!), take down, running errands, whatever your involvement,
"WE THANK YOU SO MUCH !" (A few special thank-yous to my parents, Jim and Claudine, Mel, J, Julie(Ken's Mom/J's Mother-in-law)) and her Grandkids, my sister Jennifer, my sister-in-law Bonnie, my other sister-in-law Sandy, Kourtney, the infamous (Garden of B.S. namesake) Bert Sirianni (& Ralph), The Bernards, The Kashados, Corrine and Hubby, Scott and of course, Michael. More Later, Peace, Pride and Vote, Chris VonTanner Scream-like-a-girl Records (Because of a dangerous faulty electrical wiring job at our family's vacation cabin in Billy Chinook, our guests of Honor, my parents, were unable to attend our first 'TTFF' fund raiser. So they still don't know exactly what group the benefit was for and that they are the inspiration for it's inception. And to prove my point about their generousity, they sent a wonderful note and a very large donation.) |
